Affiliates
We have a number of small groups we host on a regular basis to support our Circle of Women. Some of these groups require leadership. We are currently seeking:
- Therapists and Counselors specializing in marriage and family
- Therapists and Counselors specializing in domestic abuse
- Therapists and Counselors specializing in addiction issues
Additionally, our facility is open to host the following events:
- Yoga Classes
- Women’s Retreats
- Mental Hygiene/Mental Health Seminars
- Fitness and Nutrition Classes
All classes and events are subject to screening by Circle of Women Inc. staff and must be approved as appropriate and beneficial to our ladies.
Scholarships
Circle of Women Inc Scholarship Fund
Circle of Women Inc Scholarship Fund was created for incoming freshmen at the college level of education. Students must demonstrate an ability to perform academically by maintaining at least a 2.8 GPA.
To apply, fill out the form below and submit a 250-word essay describing a topic, idea or concept you find so engaging that it makes you lose all track of time. Why does it captivate you? What or who do you turn to when you want to learn more? Please attach an unofficial transcript to verify your GPA and a copy of your college acceptance letter.
To be considered, applicants must submit their application by the May 30, 2023 deadline date. Email application, essay and transcript to [email protected].
Scholarships will be announced on June 18, 2023 at the Taste of Inglewood’s Juneteenth Festival downtown Inglewood. All recipients will receive a personalized email with detailed instructions once selected. Good Luck!

Gwendolyn Foster Scholarship Award
Dementia refers to a group of symptoms that together affect the memory, normal thinking, communicating and the reasoning ability of a person. These symptoms made it difficult for her to perform even daily simple tasks such as bathing and eating. Eventually, she forgot how to eat, chew and swallow.
This award will be given to those who demonstrate dedication, strength and perseverance.
To apply, fill out the form below and submit a 250-word essay describing your definition of Dementia. How would you feel about a loved one losing their mental capacity? Who would you turn to if your life was suddenly impacted by Dementia? Please attach an unofficial transcript to verify your GPA and a copy of your college acceptance letter.

Empower Him “DeMarie’ Lemer Mackey “Scholarship Fund: $1,500 Scholarship
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must be a male high school seniors.
- Applicants must be residents of Inglewood, California.
- Applicants must have one parent who is currently incarcerated.
- Applicants must be currently enrolled in high school and planning to enroll in a college or university.
- Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 or higher
Application Process:
To apply for the Empower Him Scholarship, candidates must follow these steps:
- Download the Application: Obtain the scholarship application form from the Circle of Women Inc website or from the school counselor’s office.
- Complete the Application: Fill out the application form accurately, providing all the required information and documentation.
- Personal Statement: Write a personal statement (maximum 500 words) discussing your experiences, challenges, leadership, and how this scholarship will empower you to pursue higher education despite the hardships you may have faced due to parental incarceration.
- Academic Transcript: Include a copy of your most recent academic transcript, verifying your GPA.
- Letters of Recommendation: Obtain at least two letters of recommendation from teachers, mentors, or community leaders who can speak to your character, leadership, and academic potential.
- Submit Application: Send your completed application, personal statement, academic transcript, and letters of recommendation to the designated scholarship committee by the specified deadline.
Selection Criteria:
Scholarship recipients will be selected based on the following criteria:
- Strength of the essay and its alignment with the scholarship’s theme.
- Demonstrated resilience, leadership, confidence, and boldness in the applicant’s life.
- Academic achievement as reflected in the GPA.
- Letter of recommendation highlighting the applicant’s character and potential.
Application Deadline:
The deadline for submitting your application for the Empower Him Scholarship Fund is April 26,2024. Late submissions will not be considered.
